Chenai Mukumba is currently the Centre Coordinator of the Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS) International, Lusaka. CUTS is a global research and advocacy think tank with offices in Africa and Asia. Her areas of interest include trade and development, economic regulation and consumer issues.
Her current work is focused on the impact of government policy on consumers, with a particular focus on low-income consumers. She is responsible for leading all research and policy advocacy work related to CUTS’ programme areas and sits on various technical working groups and committees at the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry. She is responsible for fostering CUTS’ relationships with the regional economic bodies in Eastern and Southern Africa.
Prior to this she worked as a Policy Analyst at CUTS’ Centre for Trade, Economics and Environment in India. She also previously worked at the World Trade Organization where she spent time in both the Agriculture and Development Divisions as part of the secretariat.
Ms Mukumba holds an undergraduate degree in Economic Science and a masters degree in International Relations from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
